Launched in September 2013, Ladbrokes.com.au is the Australian arm of the UK gaming giant Ladbrokes plc., whose origins date back to 1886. Ladbrokes is however run as a separate entity under the guidelines from their parent company in the UK. Read on for our Ladbrokes review.
The company employs over 15,000 people across the UK, Ireland, Belgium, Spain and Australia.
They are a seriously big, global betting operation that since entering the Australian market in 2013 have made their presence felt.
In Europe, they have over 2,800 retail-betting shops.
Ladbrokes purchased Bookmaker.com.au, a Brisbane-based bookmaker owned at the time by a group of prominent Australian racing figures that had only launched a bit over a year earlier.
They also were to purchase BetStar. Both Bookmaker and BetStar operate using identical markets and odds although the colour and branding on the site remains that of the original company.
All three of the bookmakers operate their own promotions, deals, deposit bonuses and bonus bets.
One key point of difference between Ladbrokes and its numerous competitors is that Ladbrokes customers can opt in to receive a Ladbrokes EFTPOS Card. The card is linked to the member’s betting account with winnings available to be withdrawn from an ATM somewhere between 20 and 40 seconds after a bet has been concluded.
Ladbrokes come from an English bookmaking background and have been known to be brutally harsh when it comes to account closures and restrictions on winning punters.
They do however offer pretty competitive prices and arguably the best promotions in the industry for the casual player.
They benefit from having a global operation and can specialise in a number of areas. They have markets on all sports around the world rivalled only by Sportsbet.
