It’s Goodwood day at Morphettville while the Queenslanders have a huge meeting for the Doomben Cup. Read on for our Saturday best bets!
There is a bit of rain forecast leading into the race meetings on Saturday, May 20th across Australia.
We are expecting Flemington to race pretty well perfectly despite some forecast rain overnight on Friday.
The track drains well and we expect it will be in the Good 4 range while Doomben will race in the soft 6 range with plenty of rain forecast over the next 48 hours in southeast Queensland.
Adelaide, on the other hand, will have perfect conditions and the ever consistent Morphettville should play well again.
Our Doomben 10,000 day best bets went enormous, let’s hope for something similar this weekend!
Flemington Best Bets
Race 2 #9 Mandee @ $4.60 (place)
It would be a stretch to suggest she can turn the tables on Divine Quality but we do think she can improve. She had little luck racing down the middle of the track last start, as the outside lane was clearly superior. She’s fit, lightly weighted and looks a ripping place bet down the straight six.
Doomben Best Bets
Race 1 #2 Trubia @ $15/4
Trubia hasn’t been racing in his best form but there is no doubt that his best would be good enough for this lot. The track should play favorably for him and if he is to recapture his best it will be on Saturday, looks a great 1 x 3 bet.
Madotti is a really talented female who is suited by the big field and the track conditions. She went around for nothing more than practise first-up and can improve sharply. We think she can run a huge race at odds.
Morphettville Best Bets
Race 6 #2 Hooked @ $3.80
The only thing preventing a really strong push is the fact he has been kept fresh for this and might be a bit soft late. That being said, the $3.80 with Bet365 is a spoil – the other bookies are around the $3.20 mark which is still value. We marked him $3 as his best form is simply better than the consistent Burning Front. His win at Caulfield suggested to us that Robert Smerdon might have him tracking towards another peak figure.
