Caulfield Tips for Saturday the 2nd of September. Group 1 Memsie Stakes Day!
Rail will be out 6m and the track should again, play very well. The main factor to weigh up is whether or not the rain forecasted arrives on Saturday or not.
If the rain stays away the track will race fast and favor horses who employ positive tactics.
Caulfield Tips 2nd September
Race 2 #2 Schism @ $10.00
She was five weeks fresh in a hot race when she was found to be a bit flat last time around and the step up to 1400m and back to this type of race suits. She has won four of five starts over 1400m and maps to get a cosy run for an apprentice riding in good form. A great each-way bet.
Race 5 #2 Fuhryk @ $4.60
A really smart mare resuming here in a perfect race. Drawn to get the gun run in behind the speed and she has scope to go well above this grade. Hard to believe Miss Cover Girl can be as short as she currently is but that just shows the respect the market has for Darren Weir and his record for taking horses to a new level and or recapturing their best.

Race 6 #8 Hey Doc @ $6.50
A popular horse at Punting Stars HQ given his racing style and ability to sustain speed in his races. This race has some speed on paper and we expect Luke Currie will take a sit in behind the likes of Charmed Harmony and Vega Magic. That speed should enable Hey Doc to settle which is sometimes an issue and he looks the perfect 1 x 3 bet in a hot Memsie! His run when wide and carted back in the Goodwood (below) was very good and 1400m gives him even more of a chance to turn the tables on Vega Magic.
Punting Star: Sean Bartholomew
Race 8 #3 Tally @ $7.00
He has proven to be a hard horse to catch but he is a very generous price in the early betting in what looks a moderate field. Versatile enough to take up the right position, barrier 8 is perfect and Williams will have plenty of options at his fingertips. The horse has a really strong second-up record and the run first-up showed us enough to suggest he is in for a good preparation. Once again, backing on the 1 x 3 basis.
