Get along to the Meadows tonight for some greyhound action. Spring is in the air, all of the good dogs and horses are hitting their straps for the upcoming races and we think we have found some winners to get you started
Race 1.
I can’t separate Liebig Street (box 8) and McIvor Verna (box 7). It’s really hard to tie in much of the form because McIvor Verna’s recent wins have been over the border at a pretty weak track but they have been brilliant. It did win here in commanding fashion 3 starts back over the 600m and whilst this is over the 725, I think the dog will appreciate the step out in ground. Liebig Street won here last start over the 600m and finished like a steam train, the step up in distance will be a blessing. Only concern is being drawn wide and not being able to get to the fence however, both of these dogs get the 10m handicap and will only have to step handy enough to gain a forward position and finish too strong for this field.
Quinella 7 and 8
Race 2.
Poke the Bear (box 1) seems a nice type of race dog and I’m really keen on him. Perfectly drawn, I expect him to lead and win this race.
Poke the Bear to win
Race 3.
Back on Lava (box 6) is the best dog in this race and I think if it gets clear running then it will win. I will however be having a small each way side bet on Rosie Riccarton (box 5). It has gone down to Back on Lava twice in the past 3 starts by only a length or two and should be very juicy odds at box rise (currently $15). With a bit of luck she will be right in the finish.
Back on Lava to win and something small on Rosie Riccarton each way.
Race 4.
I’m really keen on John John Lava (box 6) again this week. We had him as our best a few weeks back and he got the job done- I think he can do the same again here. Missed the kick badly last week in a red hot field and was still only beaten half a length. This race is much softer and he has a vacant box inside him.
John John Lava to win
Race 5.
Lila Bale (box 3) has been beginning like a rocket and if she runs similar first sections this week then I think she will lead and beat this bunch (the danger is in box 8).
Lila Bale to win
Race 6.
Victor Dora (box 3) was huge last start and I am super keen on backing him in this. He can lead and is very strong late.
Solid win bet on Victor Dora
Race 8.
Interesting race with some really good dogs and a heap of early pace. I am going to go with Rippin Hayne (box 2) who has no early speed but a big engine and is drawn to get a gun run in behind the speed. I think quite a few of these dogs will be hitting the first turn at the same time and there could be some carnage early, I expect him to park in behind the leader and finish over the top.
Rippin Hayne to win
Race 9.
I am very keen on Oshkosh Expert (box 4) here to finish the night off. I think the dog in box 1 is a pretty handy type and was a brilliant last start winner but it wants off the track and it is drawn horribly for that. If it didn’t get so wide in it’s races and cover 30 metres more than it needed to then I would probably have it on top but Oshkosh expert is a proper race dog that will get to the rail and save a heap of ground late. It was brilliant behind a real smart one last start and I will be having a decent bet on this dog.
Decent bet on Oshkosh Expert to win
Best bet- Race 6 #3 Victor Dora
Best each way- Race 3#5
