Just in time for the 2017 Spring Carnival, a new Australian bookie has launched! Check out our Neds Sportsbook review below!
Former Ladbrokes CEO and Bookmaker.com.au founder Dean Shannon is heading up Neds which is based in QLD Australia.
They launched just a few short weeks ago and despite a bit of a rocky start in terms of website and application issues, there is no doubt they loom as a serious player in the Australian space going forward.
They are well funded, well resourced and have hit the ground running hard with an aggressive marketing campaign in time for the busy Spring Carnival period.
Offering and Prices
Neds have a good range of sports and racing markets but at this early stage their depth of markets for sports betting does not match the likes of Sportsbet and theyĀ have been rather conservative with their pricing.
This is to be expected as Shannon had so much success at Ladbrokes and Bookmaker that he will likely follow a similar business model.
Unfortunately for the big players that means you’ll likely be limited pretty quickly however it is another potential option and the racing punters can at least get set inside the minimum bet law times.
For those that can get on, Neds are one of few bookies who still offer the Best Of The Best win product which is a terrific betting product right up there with TopBetta Goat SP and Betfair’s BFSP.
**Update, we’ve found thus far that Neds willingness to take bets has actually been pretty decent.
Website and Mobile Apps
This is the part that has been a bit disappointing to us so far. The website has performed poorly which will likely improve but the actual layout and functionality of the desktop version is rather poor at this early stage.
Bet placement is a bit slow and clunky while navigation for markets could also be improved.
The mobile application is slightly better but has also experienced some teething issues over the past few weeks.
We expect Neds will iron out the early kinks and quickly become a force to be reckoned with in Australia and bookies account worth having.
**Update: Website performance has improved substantially and the mobile app has some great features worth checking out.
