Having walked the track in the last 24 hours it is certainly no worse than that but there is some rain and possibly even a thunderstorm forecast before race day so it is difficult to know right now what we will race on come Sunday.
One thing is for sure, the Club has the track looking a picture and after all the bad luck they have had with weather in the last 18 months they are due for a change of luck.

Race 7 – Ace Radio The Melbourne Cup Carnival Country Series Heat 6 (BM70 Hcp) 1600m
A great initiative by Racing Victoria this $600,000 series gives the first and second placegetters in 8 heats held around country tracks the opportunity to race in the $200,000 Final at Flemington on Oaks Day. Expecting the two to qualify here to be the 15 Last Week now that he gains a start and the 1 Lord Tennyson. Lord Tennyson is the class runner here but I reckon Last Week is a horse on the way up. He races in the well know Prince of Penzance colours and is owned obviously in similar interests. He was caught wide the whole way last start at Ballarat in a BM64 over 1600m and raced ungenerously at times but was still strong on the line and right in the finish. Down in weight here (albeit up in grade) and also with the services of Dean Yendall around Hamilton, he’ll lose nothing there.
The 1600m start is out of a chute and gives them an almost 800m run to the bend so the barrier shouldn’t be an issue and I think this fella provides the value. As mentioned Lord Tennyson is the class runner and was a strong second last start at Bendigo off a short let up. Before that he was a very good sixth over 1600m at Moonee Valley behind Spunlago, where he had no luck over the concluding stages and while only going down by 2 lengths would have been closer with clear running. Has the claim here for Chris Caserta and like Last Week the wide barrier shouldn’t be a problem from the 1600m start. Backing Last Week and taking the quinella.
