Tonight’s meeting at The Meadows is all about the best female greyhound in the country who is taking on the five time group winning superstar Burn On Down over the 725m in the State Distance final.
Race 1.
The first is not a super exciting affair but I think that Star Fever in Box 1 is over the odds at $5 and $2 (currently on bet 365). The inside alley is a bonus for this dog and I think he can lead and win this.
Star Fever each way
Race 2.
Think the favourite Slinky Inky in box 6 will make amends after a luckless run last week behind Winnie Allen. Expect both of these dogs to head them in to the first turn but think Slinky Inky will turn the tables and run over the top of Winnie Allen.
Slinky Inky to Win
Race 3.
Going against the favourite here Farmer Brown because he looked to get awfully tired late last week, albeit in marginally better company than this race. I am keen on Hit the Runway in box 3 who should park just off the speed and be finishing strong at the end of the 525m. He has won 2 from 4 at the track and was very impressive a couple of starts back here over the same trip and distance.
Hit the Runway to win
Race 4.
I’m all over Zipping Angus (box 4) here. Think it should lead and don’t think anything will catch it. Great PB here, great record and very smart dog.
Zipping Angus to win
Race 5.
Ok, so I tipped Myrniong Corner to beat Our Turbo Boy last week and was narrowly beaten. I said if they reversed boxes then I thought the result would have been different. I will be going back to the well and backing Myrniong Corner in box 3 this week to win because I think he will continue to get better with racing each week after a lengthy layoff and he has drawn inside Our Turbo Boy. Big concern here is the speed inside him and the strength of the dog in boxes 1 and 4. I think Myrniong Corner has the ability to burn them off down the back and really gap this lot with clear running however, if he gets bottled up then he will find it hard running down Zipping Hawk who recently went down to the great Fanta Bale over 600m by less than a length.
Myrniong Corner to win
Race 6.
I love Fanta Bale and Burn One Down, really like Reefton Treasure and Billy’s Bake and I am a big fan of all of the other dogs in the race, so happy to sit and watch this amazing race as a genuine greyhound fan without having a bet. If however, you can’t sit on your hands without shelling something out, my good friend and fellow punter Brad Miller says this- “The 3 will be too far out in front for the 4 and the 7 to catch it, Fanta Bale to win for me”.
Fanta Bale to win
Race 7.
Don’t like this race much and won’t be having a bet. Leaning towards Chezzy Allen as my top pick but not enough value here for me to bet
Race 8.
Mystery Ride has the gun draw in box 1 here and should be able to lead them out and be hard to catch. Kilty Express is a group 1 winner and a personal favourite but I’m not sure he can get across from out in box 7, so I am sticking with Mystery Ride.
Mystery Ride to win.
Race 9.
Im backing Zippy Daph again this week because it is almost a good dog. It is fast, it has early speed and it does a lot right UNTIL…. The final turn when it runs off and gives the dogs on the rail a clear passage to nail it late.
Zippy Daph to win (but still bleeding from last weeks result)
Best Bet- Zipping Angus (race 4)
Best Roughie- Star Fever (race 1)
Happy to hang up the boots after race 9 and head home after what looks like a great night of racing. Good luck punters
