Shepparton Greyhounds – 24th July

Tonight we have 8 outstanding heats of the Group 2 CKH Painting Shepparton Cup featuring the best sprinters in the country.

Let’s have a look into the heats and try to find some winners!

BLACKPOOL CHUCK (2) is a lightning beginner and if jumps on the bunny he will be hard to reel in. His last two runs haven’t been flash but his two runs before that were low flying. Drawing closer to the fence is a big plus. MYRNIONG CORNER (6) has been airborne his last few runs at Ballarat running sizzling times and his run home times are very impressive. He usually takes a few strides to wind up so with the vacant box inside him will assist but with the speed in box 7 just worried he will be shuffled back early. With some luck he is a major player.

EACH WAY BET – BLACKPOOL CHUCK (only 2 place dividends)

UP HILL JILL (8) is a superstar, boxes 6 and 7 vacant she will spear straight across the field and be too good. She’s at very skinny odds but with only 5 runners in the field, she looks extremely hard to beat.

ALPHA LUCKY (5) looks the only danger. He was super at this track and distance last start powering home to win in a quick 25.33. If he pings the lids he will run some serious time and give Jill something to think about.

QUINELLA BET – 5 & 8

This looks like a match race between two of the quickest dog in the country at the moment but both very different chasers. BEWILDERING (7) is an extremely strong dog and runs breathtaking times. His last couple runs he has been stepped up to the 595m trips but with the bend starts he has found some trouble. If he can get into a good position early look for him to be flying home late. STRIKER LIGHT (8) is a quick beginner and with clear running she will be running some time on the arm. She was back to her best last start at Ballarat from the same draw. Expect her to get forward early and be running quick sectionals. Very tough race and hard to beat on, I will just be sitting out and watching two of the best go at it. If STRIKER LIGHT drifts out a little then she is worth a bet on. If she doesn’t reach $2 then I will be just backing the quinella.

QUINELLA BET – 7 & 8

Cracking heat with plenty of chances. I’m selecting NANGAR ROCK (7) on top here. Perfectly drawn out in box 7 as he likes to use plenty of the track. He will stalk the early leaders MANILLA DAWN (1) and GOOD GIRL SANDY (5) but will round them up and fly down the outside to get the win. MANILLA DAWN looks the one to beat from the good draw and could sneak a good break on them. Just hoping we are close enough early.

WIN BET – NANGAR ROCK

Another light on field here with only 5 runners but plenty of class in this lineup. ZINZAN BROOKE (3) looks very difficult to beat, he has a super PB at the track and with no real speed drawn outside him he will balance up and reel off flying sectionals.

The main danger is NSW star KONG (8) who has recently trialled here in flying time in preparation for this event. The vacant box next to him will do him wonders as he does like to take a couple strides to let rip. One of the quickest chasers on his night. If
he jumps, look out!

WIN BET – ZINZAN BROOKE

QUINELLA BET – 3 & 8 

BLAZIN BOMBER (1) has drawn perfectly here in box 1 and is having his 3rd start since a break. Expect him to be hitting the line hard. ANDO’S MAC (3) drops back to the 450m trip here but that won’t worry this brilliant chaser at all. With the 10 going into box 4, he will get plenty of room early to burn to the front and run serious time. Looks the bet of the night.

WIN BET – ANDO’S MAC 

Cracking heat this one with plenty of early speed. Tough to map out where they all will be at the first turn but I think JESAULENKO (6) will charge to the early lead and might be hard to reel in. He is proven at this level and handles terrible boxes well.

RAW ABILITY (3) hasn’t been seen since May when he finished down the track in the Warrnambool cup final. If Anthony & Kylee didn’t think he was up for the challenge they would not have entered him. He is named appropriately as he has plenty of ability and can run serious times.

ACCLAIM (2) has been sensational in his two appearances at this track and distance running 25.17 & 25.18. He does like to use a bit of the track but if he jumps out in front he will be very hard to reel in.

WIN BET – ACCLAIM (small bet at odds over $6)

BLACK MUMBO (2) was scratched from the Bendigo Cup last start here he would have been a major player. He comes up with a good draw here and if he gets some room early he will be running time.

LANDMARK (1) was the winner of the Bendigo Cup last start from the same draw. He also takes a very strides to unwind and from the inside draw he will hug the rail and be hitting the line hard.

PANTERA NERA (7) is a star chaser and a winner of 38 races. He is a faultless beginner and can handle any draw.

LUCKY CHAP (6) is one of my favourite chasers to watch. He can be a little hit and miss early but once he hits the ground he can really fly. He hasn’t been seen for a month but expect Anthony to have him firing for this event. No speed in box 5 is advantage, if he can jump cleanly I expect him to be the one to beat in a very open race.
