The new tax year is upon us and the best way to kick of the new financial year is by nailing a couple of winners at The Meadows this Saturday night.
Race 1 with another one of these intriguing handicap races. I am going to go with NSW group 1 winner Big Daddy Bee in box 4. I don’t think he is the best dog in the race but he gets a 3 metre head start on the good dogs drawn inside and his other main danger has drawn 8 and wants the fence.
I think Big Daddy Bee will jump to the front and be too hard to catch. Very even race and will be betting purely on the way I see the race mapping out.
Race 2 of the night is an average sort of race with a few hopes. I am going to go for a bit of each way value here with Number 2 Clovally Granite at around $12. Has had no luck of late over the shorter trips but has been motoring home. Gets an inside draw tonight and could win this race with clear running.
I don’t expect him to lead them out but if he can park in behind them then he is as strong as anything else in this race and I think the $12 is overs. Clovally Granite each way
Race 3 we will be going with the exciting youngster Dirk Bale box 1. Very exciting prospect that went 29:90 in his first start here at the track which is a margin quicker than any dog in this race has been. He has a gun draw, he from a good litter, he has a great trainer and if he puts it together then he will win the race.
Slight concern with last weeks brain fade that cost him the race but hope this was just a speed hump in his learning to be a race dog and not the start of a bad habit of turning his head and waiting for the others to catch up Dirk Bale to win
Why Greyhound Punters Should Be Betting On The Global Tote
Race 4 I am leaning towards Militant Man box 8. I am not a big fan of box 8 from the 600m at the meadows but think this dog may be suited to the extra room out wide. With a bit of luck he can get through the first turn without interference and be too strong for this pretty even bunch late.
Not much separates these dogs so if I can get the $5 odds here then I will be having something each way on Militant Man.
Race 5 is a good race and I am keen on the two outside dogs in boxes 7 and 8. I am leaning towards backing Chezzy Allen in box 7 purely because he is inside Zipping Hawk and I think he might hold him out at the first turn.
I think the dog in box 1 will lead and if Chezzy Allen can sit off him through the first turn then he should be far too strong late. Chezzy Allen to win (with a saving bet on Zipping Hawk box 8 if the odds are good enough)
Race 6 I am really keen on Zippy Daph in Box 4. Ran 2nd to one of the best dogs in Australia last week and can go one better here. Should put herself in forward position early and prove very hard to catch Zippy Daph to win.
Race 7 Not betting here. The favourite will be short and I think it is a bit weak late to take that sort of a price. Would take it on if I could find a strong one late but there isn’t one.
Race 8 Another race that I am really keen on two dogs and I’m having trouble splitting them. Lucky Tetris in box 2 should lead and will be very hard to catch but Mystery Ride in box 8 is a class dog and has a great record here.
I don’t normally have quinellas but I will boxing these two dogs and having a good go. Boxed Quinella 2 and 8
Race 9 Aston Frankel Box 3 should get the chocolates here with an ounce of luck after getting none last start.
Couldn’t have found more trouble from out wide last start but back nearer to the inside tonight, he should get clearer running and be far too strong. Aston Frankel to win
