Tonights meeting at Wentworth Park sees the running of the NSW nationals sprint and distance heats. After a disappointing night at Sandown Park on Thursday night with 3 of our win bets running 2nd and our each way bet running 2nd it was a case of close but not close enough so hopefully tonight we can have a bit more luck.
We are looking at filling our pockets very early in the night tonight with a win bet on ZIPPING CHANG (8) in RACE 1. The son of Magic Sprite x Cho Chang has not been seen for 84 days due to injury but speaking to trainer Jason Mackay yesterday the dog is ready to fire. He said the dog has been trialling very well and looks hard to beat. His only concern is how the dog would handle box 8 first up from a spell, but without much speed drawn inside of him I think Chang can take a couple of steps to balance up and then hit to top and be winning easily.
WIN BET – ZIPPING CHANG
RACE 4 is the 2nd heat of the NSW national distance over the 720m and I am selecting EBBY RIPPER (2) on top. She will need some luck as she loves to drop out the back and flash home but with only 6 in the field and with the track being harrowed yesterday making it a slower track I think she will be able to run over the top of them. $3 is available and at those odds I am happy to have a unit on her. I do worry about punting on her but tonight looks her race.
WIN BET – EBBY RIPPER
The next race is the first heat of the national sprint and I think the superstar ANDO’S MAC will take it out. His hopes were dashed straight after box rise in the Shepparton Cup last start when slipping on the mat and losing 5-6 lengths on the leaders but his run was huge after that. I think being back at Wentworth Park where he has won 8 from 13 he will be to good for them here. Box 5 is an obvious concern but if he can get that start right like he does 99% of the time then box 5 won’t be a problem.
WIN BET – ANDO’S MAC
The 7th race on the card is the 3rd heat of the national sprint and this looks a very open race. MISTER TWISTER (6) was back to his absolute best last week and if he can repeat that same performance he will be extremely hard to beat. The other dog that I really like in the race is the new kid on the block LAGOON RHETT who has drawn perfectly in box 1. He is only a pup still but has run some flying times at Maitland and Bulli. He can be a bit tardy at box rise so he is going to have to bring his best box manners to contest these big races but if he can be sitting with the leaders early his mid race burn is incredible and will be giving them something to worry about and is worth an each way bet.
WIN BET – MISTER TWISTER
EACH WAY – LAGOON RHETT
BEST BET – ZIPPING CHANG (5 UNITS)
BEST EACH WAY – LAGOON RHETT (1 unit x 2 units)
Good Luck and Happy Punting
