Back to Moonee Valley we go but this time it’s for Group 1 Moir Stakes Night! The rail is out 4m the entire circuit and the track should play well with well.
As is usually the case at the Valley, it should suit horses on or around the speed. The track is currently rated a Good 4 with a few showers possible on Friday afternoon prior to the races.
Moir Stakes Night Best Bets
Race 4 #6 Super Too @ $2.80
Speedy mare who ran time last start on a slick track. She’s drawn the pegs here and with Shinn engaged, you’d expect she’ll press forward. Normally I’m wary of inside draws over the short trips but the horse is flying and she should post a rating most of them can’t compete with here.

Race 6 #4 Happy Hannah $16.00
Big odds! Not convinced I Am A Star has come up this prep and she is also nominated for a race in Sydney. Happy Hannah might have needed the hit-out first-up at Flemington and will enjoy stepping up to 1600m for this race. She’ll get back and need some luck in running but the speed looks decent in the race and I’m happy to play her on the 1 x 3 basis.
Race 7 #5 Russian Revolution @ $2.90
We were with the Big Russian first-up when he was dominant at this track and trip. It’s a funny Group 1 Moir Stakes field with many of the key chances drawing out wide. Bowman is the man for the job though and I’d rather our bloke be given room to operate and not clogged up back in traffic over the 1000m trip. He’ll bowl along just off the pace and look the winner for a long way.
*In the off chance that Ability gets a start in the race, be sure to keep him safe and at least have something small on.

Race 8 #1 The Mission @ $16.00 & #5 Silent Command @ $34.00
Two small each-way bets to finish off the night in the Bill Stutt Stakes. A race that has been won by some nice horses over the years including Hey Doc, Pierro and Whobegotyou. The Mission comes out of the Golden Rose when he was a big forgive run. Maps well in this race and can make amends at decent odds. Silent Command on the other hand, he’ll need some luck to grab some cover and settle from the wide gate. Showed enough last start to suggest he can measure up here and at $34 it’s worth the gamble to find out.
