Sandown Racing Tips for Wednesday the 5th of July. Racing is on the Lakeside circuit and the rail is out 9 meters for the meeting.
Race 2 #12 Pete’s Dragon @ $18
The run first-up of Pete’s Dragon at Geelong was full of merit. Damien Oliver stays on here and from barrier 11 she maps to get into the right lanes in the straight. Three wide with some cover in transit will work perfectly and she simply has more scope for improvement than most of these horses.
She appears to be well over the odds at $18 with Bet365 betting $21 early. Rated a $9 chance on our figures and you could do a lot worse than grab an each-way ticket on her in this event.
Race 4 #4 Little Indian @ $3.60
Little Indian drops back from a decent sprint race at Flemington where she was far from disgraced running behind Ability and Husson Eagle. Two horses who are genuine off-season Saturday quality.
She’ll get back off the pace again here but in the small field should be able to stay close enough in transit. She looks too classy for this lot and the $3.60 shouldn’t be lasting.
Race 6 #5 St Swithuns @ $5.00
Our final ‘best bet’ or top rated runner of the day comes in Race 6 for the Cairon Maher stable. St Swithuns gets in very well here. Maps well, is hard fit and coming off a solid run against the males will appreciate going around against the fillies and mares here.
Luke Nolen should be able to press forward and post a bit of the speed drawn outside him in a tricky position before eventually taking the sit in behind them. A repeat of her last two runs will have her again in the finish here. $5 more than fair!
Good luck if you’re chancing your arm and be sure to stake responsibly!
