Sydney racing heads to Canterbury for a strong midweek card that will provide a more than adequate support act to Blue Sapphire day at Caulfield.
Rail Position: +3m Entire Circuit
Track Condition: Good 4
Canterbury has been Sydney’s most consistent and fair surface across the last few years and we expect no different. A slight headwind is forecast for runners in the home straight but we’re not anticipating anything too disastrous.
Canterbury Park Tips 18th Oct
Race 5 #7 Star Of Africa @ $5.00
This Snowden-trained galloper was caught wide and working on debut when too strong for a field of three-year-old maideners at Warwick Farm. Most impressive was the way he accelerated into the race from the 600m to the top of the straight to have the leaders beaten upon straightening. The speed will be on up front here which should allow him to build into the race nicely approaching the turn and he could be too strong when it counts.

Race 6 #9 Baysa @ $3.40
Waller-trained mare Baysa made a sensational return at Rosehill when missing by a whisker over 1500m. Quickly up to 1900m is a positive and she strikes a race with a bit of tempo about it. Barrier two has the potential to be a bit hairy but it may allow her to settle a bit closer in the run and should the gaps open up she will take a power of beating.
Horse Racing Opinion: When is the best time to bet?
Race 8#1 Good Time Charlie @ $7.50
Consistent sprinter Good Time Charlie hit traffic when a close up third in a strong race first up and has a strong second up record, including a win over this trip last prep. There is speed everywhere you look in this one and while he’s no slouch, he’ll be smoking the pipe midfield from the wide gate ready to pounce in the run to the line.
